fake it till you make it.
So I had a great call yesterday with a closer friend.
He sells for an account where we are helping people make the transformation to a better place so that they can have a better life for themselves and their family and we often ask the prospect, what is it that’s like your deep driver and he mentioned that he was incongruent because , for want of a better term, he’s just comfortable with his life, he’s got a tradesman skills you’ll always be able to make money, he doesn’t have any responsibility or any family.
And I said, That’s a great point. And it’s something that has been prevalent for me for a while if I’m honest as well,, I don’t have a lot of urgency-, when you’re happy. You don’t necessarily have a burning desire.
But I agree with the closers issue that you kind of need to have a desire from a congruence point of view and so what I suggested to him is that you need to fake it till you make it.
So what does that mean?
So I make reference here to Maxwell Maltz, his book, Psycho Cybernetics and the component of our mind that needs to be working towards something. It’s just part of who we are and part of the human condition.
And in order to really add an extra dimension to where we go and we really need to have a reason, a compelling reason – a why. So I suggested to him that, even though he didn’t know exactly where he was going you need to at least have a direction.
So he made, he made use of terminology such as
I feel like I’m a ship without with, with no wind in my sails I
I don’t really know where I’m going.
So I said,
Well, imagine you’re in a yacht and you’re, you’re doing a world cruise. You don’t really know where you want to go but you’ve got to go somewhere. So imagine you’re in Southampton dock. What do you know you’ve got to go to your first port so maybe just aim to go for Boston.
So what does that look like for you?
I want you to aim to get C maybe 5k in commissions in the next month, at least you’ve given your mind something to focus on, and it will give you time to just really do the deeper work and really find out what engages you.
And then secondly, on the subject of finding out your way. Sometimes you do have to engineer that. And there’s a phenomenon called reciprocity. And if you’re a father or mother, you’re going to understand that, You know you would do anything for your child.
But the closer who I was speaking to didn’t have a child so I said,
``Who’s the next most important person to you. And he said my mom and dad.
So I suggested
well, what can you do for your parents that you can’t do now, because you don’t have the funding, and he talked about repairing their home, so I said well, how’s about every month, with your Commission’s you do something to repair your parents house, and like, they’ve got 10 years left on the mortgage How is it, how about a long term goal that you aim to have the mortgage paid for them within eight years?.
So I guess that wraps up my blog.
If you don’t have a deeper why that’s not a problem. You know sometimes it’s okay not to have like a, an exact plan, but that’s where you just need to understand human nature, and understand that we need direction and even if it’s not the perfect direction at least just get the compass out and get going, at least go in somewhat the right direction and really put a little bit of emphasis on it by manipulating the reciprocity and using it to your own best interest by just thinking Who Can I include in my success , who isclose to me so my financial goals are more rewarding.
Thanks for reading this.
I hope it’s of some use.
